"The Story" Blog Intro

In the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth. Genesis 1:1
Last Monday we had the first lesson in our 8 month study of The Story. When I asked the kids, "so, if we're going to go through the whole Bible this year, where should we start?", they shouted with great enthusiasm..."the beginning!" (many even said "Genesis!"). So we did, and that's where we'll start too!

Though there are many materials available for The Story (The Story Bible, Adult Participant Guides, reference companions, etc.), really all you need In order to participate in this blog, is a Bible, and about 20 minutes each week. There are two purposes of this blog: 1) to know about what the kids are learning in club, and 2) to have a chance to grow and to better understand God's story from beginning to end, and how our story is a part of it.

Each week I'll give a brief summary of each chapter that we have covered, insight/commentary from some of the companion materials, followed by a discussion question or two. Please feel free to post your thoughts, comments, and questions. This is meant to be a forum for us to grow together, and a chance to have a more in depth look at the material that's being covered with the kids.

My goal will be to post no later than Wednesday afternoon each week. Obviously, I have fell behind already, and I apologize for that. For the sake of time, I will just catch everyone up by posting about Chapt 1-3 this week. After that we will never have more than 2 chapters at a time to discuss (the chapters are only about 10-15 pages long). For now, I'd love it if you have read this, that you would just post a quick comment to introduce yourself and perhaps a quick sentence about what you hope to get out of this study with us.

In the mean time, here is the link to The Story's home page... www.thestory.com. Also, please let me know if you'd still like to order any of The Story materials. If you choose to use your own Bible, the stories of Creation, Adam & Eve, the Flood, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph are what's covered in the first 3 chapters.

I look forward to sharing this amazing journey with you! :)

Blessings!
Charlene
